There has been so many tempting bread machine recipes that I've seen other bloggers post over the past few years but I always thought I could get along without one. I did not want another appliance to store (and this is a fairly large one). I had lots of good reasons not to get one. Lots. Somehow, my WANT finally outweighed my NEED and I decided on an inexpensive model based on a recommendation from a fellow blogger.
I decided to let the bread machine make the bread from start to finish for the first time to make sure everything was in good working order, so I added the ingredients per my machine's recommended order and just hit Start. That's it! In less than three hours I had the most delicious-tasting herb bread and my home smelled wonderful. It's the perfect bread to serve with soup or dip in roasted garlic olive oil.
I tweaked the original recipe just a bit and added some ground flax seed and used some Original Mrs. Dash seasoning and also reduced the amount of rosemary which seemed excessive. Everything worked great and my machine turned out a delicious, fragrant loaf of bread. I can't wait to try more bread machine recipes!

ReplyDeleteBye
Looks beautiful and I know the house smelled great! Enjoy your new toy:@)
ReplyDeleteThe rosemary bread looks heavenly. It looks soo delicious with the butter melting on it...or I'll bet it would be good dipped in a bit of olive oil..Oh, yum, either way.
ReplyDeleteI bet that is so good - love rosemary! Would love a big piece of it with some dipping oil about now, with a good cheese. Yum!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend.
I just finished making a soup for dinner and thought I would visit some blogs while no one was home yet. This bread would be so perfect with the soup. We had a bread maker for years and loved it especially for kneading. I often would shape it into regular pans. Now that I have a Kitchenaid, I get my kneading done that way, but it is so nice to have that fresh bread at the touch of a button!
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful! I love using rosemary and in bread, that's the best;-)
ReplyDeleteThis bread look amazing dear!
ReplyDeleteI just got rid of my machine. And now I am second guessing that decision. Your bread looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteYvonne
I have used my bread machine for many years and it is my most used appliance after my mixer. I seldom bake in it but almost always make my dough in it. You're gonna love yours!
ReplyDeleteMy replacement bread machine arrived from the company with a 30 day warranty. I don't dare use it because it looks as if it could break down and I don't want to waste the ingredients. Otherwise, I'm sure that I'd love this rosemary herb bread. I can almost smell it!
ReplyDeleteI love Rosemary bread! I need to find my bread machine, not sure where it ended up after the move :)
ReplyDeleteYour bread looks delicious! I know you'll get good use from the machine. Looking forward to seeing what else you make with it! Mine has about 8 inches of dust, LOL, but I did use it a few times :)
ReplyDeleteYay! I'm so happy that you're pleased with your new bread machine and this luscious looking rosemary herb loaf. I am definitely going to try this one when life settles down again. Doesn't the house smell soooo good when bread is baking?
ReplyDeleteYou must know that I'm a big fan of bread, I always look for soft breads but still fluffy, this one is just perfect, I'm gaining weight just by loking at that butter melting on top
ReplyDeleteOh I;d try this one out! Some of the recipes for bread machine aren't quite there for me...
ReplyDeleteHow pretty! An herbed bread in one of my favorites & perfect for my bread machine. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new bread machine! I love my bread machine, cannot imagine myself without it! Rosemary Herb Bread is one of my favourite homemade bread, we enjoy it with mushroom soup! Looking forward to more of your bread adventures! Have a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteI may get a bread machine myself in a weak moment; I used the same reasoning not to acquire one all these years, plus I like the feel of the dough while I am kneading it and my KitchenAid does a fine job. We'll see! In the meantime, this rosemary bread sounds wonderful, and so practical for us here since we have a huge, I mean huge, rosemary bush in the garden.
ReplyDeleteBread machines are AWESOME - and I would never scoff at someone who used one to make bread! I use mine all the time and it really is a time-saver. Plus, it makes fantastic dough.
ReplyDeleteI love the recipe you chose - it sounds delicious and looks incredible. The crust, the crumb, the melted butter...ok, now I'm drooling =)
Chuckling here because rosemary bread is at the top of my list! And recently I too purchased an inexpensive maker... because I didn't want to have another large appliance. So now there is no excuse. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI have thought about it for a few years, but resisted! My bil had one but I didn't like the shape the bread came out.
ReplyDeleteI hope you use yours a lot and enjoy it!
I loved my bread machine... happily used it for 4 years until I overworked it one day. I have been thinking of purchasing another, glad you did. lovely loaf!!
ReplyDeleteI can just smell the hot bread aroma wandering thru the house
ReplyDeleteI will have to bookmark this one, I love rosemary and herbed breads. I've had my bread machine for awhile now and used it to make breads start to finish, then i go a few fails and in this humid FGlorida weather you never knew how it was going to turn out. It was packed away for a bit then I pulled it out again and use it all the time, mostly for the dough cycle which is wonderful in itself. If I want pizza I can throw in the ingredients and push a button, get the stuff together and it ready to roll. Even quicker than going to the store and buying the store made dough. Whip up some flat breads, english muffins dinner rolls...there's no end. I know you'll be glad you got it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for trying out this recipe for me :)
I had no idea that a bread machine could be had at a reasonable price. I'm very tempted!!
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie
Congratulations on your new bread machine Susan! My mouth watering but I must resist to buy ,too dangerous for my diet...have a good weekend, a warm hug...
ReplyDeleteOh I can smell the delicious aroma wafting its way to me right now! Our favorite flavor of La Brea Bakery bread is Rosemary Olive Oil which we use for paninis or just to eat dipped in olive oil. I don't have a bread machine~ that would be the equivalent of a crack pipe for me :)
ReplyDeleteI have a bread machine and I made many beautiful bread in it like yours Susan. The good thing about these machines is that they are doing other things as well, such as preserves and you can always do the kneading in them and then continue and shape your breads in any way you like. The bread looks delicious and I am sure you will enjoy a lot your new kitchen gadget!
ReplyDeleteI've often debated whether or not I need a bread machine and have always concluded eh, not so much. But this has me thinking otherwise...
ReplyDeleteYou have nudged me a few steps closer to investing in a bread machine, Susan. Now I just have to figure out where to keep it. My cupboards are at capacity. There is nothing better than a slice of fresh homemade bread.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a bread maker for all the same reasons but everyone that has one loves theirs. The bread must have been delicious warm out of the oven...I mean bread machine.
ReplyDeletelooks great
ReplyDeleteYour bread looks lovely!
ReplyDeleteThis bread machine loaf has perfect crumb and crust! I love the addition of flaxseed too.
ReplyDeleteI gave away my machine, but I can borrow it back! Your bread looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing like fresh bread. This looks sensational.
ReplyDeleteMy bread machine is long gone, Susan, for exactly the reason you mentioned. Space. And it is BIG. (My DIL gave me the Breville Mini Pie Maker and I have no clue where I'm going to put it!)
ReplyDeleteBut, that said, there is no reason not to make this lovely loaf the old fashioned way.
Susan, your bread looks great, like it even more with rosemary...yummie!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful week ahead :)
Stopping by from On the Menu Monday! http://queenofsavings.com
ReplyDeleteBread is my biggest weakness and I wouldn't have it any other way!! I'm going to try this amazing recipe.
ReplyDeleteYou are tempting me into buying a bread machine too. Nothing is more heavenly than fresh baked bread and this loaf looks sensational.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great recipe, and i really love fresh made bread nice and warm! Richard
ReplyDeleteLove the wooden cutting board. The dark ones are hard to find! the photo with the melted butter is deadly - and the idea of throwing in some Mrs. Dash is simply brilliant. YUMMY! There is nothing like homemade bread.
ReplyDeleteXO
Valerie
Please don't make me want a bread machine! Lol. I've been resisting it too since it's not really a 'necessity'. That being said, your loaf looks gorgeous - love the idea of a bit of Mrs. Dash
ReplyDeleteI too, could no longer resist the urge to buy a bread machine. I have only had my machine for a few weeks. I have been making bread and really enjoying the results too.
ReplyDeleteThis herb bread looks fabulous.
Velva
Oh oh! Now I'm tempted to buy a bread maxhine! I really don't have room for one on my kitchen counter but the thought of having frequent easily made bread is such a lure. This loaf sounds so good!
ReplyDeleteAbout the only thing that smells better than bread baking, is the smell of rosemary bread baking. :) I have an old bread machine that I often use to make dough, but I don't like the way my bread turns out when I bake in it. (The loaf doesn't turn out nearly as nice as yours looks!) But I just turn the dough out into a loaf pan and all's well. This rosemary loaf sounds like the perfect bread for soup, or for just enjoying toasted with a bit of butter. Beautiful! :)
ReplyDeleteMmmmmm...I love the sound of this bread. I have a bread machine that my in-law's gave us years ago. I think that it is at least 20 years old, but it still works like a charm. It will be fun to try your recipe. I can only imagine how wonderful the house will smell with the herbs and bread cooking together.
ReplyDeleteif you want my brioche recipe just let me know (by Facebook or mail)...
ReplyDeleteyum rosemary herb bread sounds delicious, looks great too :)
ReplyDeleteI will never understand why so many people turn their noses up at bread machines. I've used mine for years and love it for the convenience. Everyone loves the bread I bake.
ReplyDeleteIn fact, I used to give my Great Uncle two loaves of cottage cheese bread every year, but got out of the habit of doing that. I need to do that again because every Christmas he reminds me "You used to bake me that bread every year....." I always take that as compliments to the chef.
I'm sure your family loves the bread you make just the same!
Thank you for sharing this recipe. My family would love to try it too. I appreciate you linking up to my party this week as well.
hehe...how ironic. I said that because I love making breads at home and my bread machine (over 10 yrs old) just broke down a few weeks ago. That didn't stop me from making bread though. I'm just glad that I have my trusty stand mixer to do the work so I don't have to knead the dough by hand. I only use the bread machine for making dough anyway. I like to shape my own loaves and buns. I was debating if I should get a new bread machine....and still debating. :P
ReplyDeleteOh this bread looks fantastic! Rosemary is one of my favorite herbs to use, especially in baking. Sounds wonderful!
ReplyDeleteOh Susan - I always swoon over your photos!! Love the shape of loaf your bread machine makes... you must have a Zo.
ReplyDeleteciao Susan!!! stupendo questo pane!!un abbraccio e Buona Pasqua!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, all! I am loving my bread machine and have used it 3 times already.
ReplyDeletePatricia it isn't the expensive one that starts with a Z - it's an inexpensive Sunbeam. It works great!
Karyne, I would love to have your brioche recipe!
This bread looks wonderful! I am sure tastes fantastic too.
ReplyDeleteSunbeam??? Wow, I'll have to check that one out. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Susan! I am so sorry I missed this post; I have been hooked on my Bread Machine for years. You will have so much fun creating your own bread.
