Savoring Time in the Garden Sunday

I can see it in the color of the leaves on the trees, the purple and gold in the meadows. Sadly, summer is drawing to a close. Even though the garden has a change of face, there is still much to appreciate. This is the time of year that dahlias love.

Phlox and rudbeckia are prolific

Morning glories are just getting glorious.

Tricyrtis is one of my favorite, late summer flowers.  Tiny, but spectacular!

The hydrangea are taking on that rosy, autumn glow.

Some of the container plants are still going strong.

It hasn't been the best summer in SE Wisconsin, but the cooler temperatures have revived the garden - for a short time, at least!

I'm joining Mary at Little Red House for Mosaic Monday with my end of summer garden mosaic.

A gorgeous garden, the flowers blooms are simply wonderful. My garden has faded and I am just waiting the lovely leaf color, they are the last bright colors until next spring.

The photos are beautiful. Alas, the only thing blooming on the prairie are the garlic chives and the autumn clematis!

Your garden is filled with beautiful flowers! Tricyrtis looks much like an orchid, is it? What a wonderful way to begin the week.

Beautiful photos, Susan. Summer was so slow getting underway here and then the weather turned blistering hot so most of my garden was crispy fried. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful! Yes, the cooler temps have revived the garden for a little while longer... The annuals especially.

Patricia, my camera is an older DSLR that I bought about 6 years ago - a Nikon D70.

Christie, the tricyrtis is a member of the lily family and it prefers shade. The flowers are actually quite small, only about 1-1/2 inches wide but they are beautiful close up.

Thanks again, for your very kind comments, everyone!

Many thanks!

Thank you, Federica and also thank you to your husband. Does he take the pictures for your blog?

Thank you Julie. The first photo is a dwarf dahlia from the 'Gallery Series' called Bellini. I dig and save the tubers each year.

Fall is the one season I really miss since my move from Michigan to Florida many years ago. The smells, the leaves, the cider, the slight chill in the air in the morning, U of M football...the list goes on and on. I even try to time my visits north to October...always the best month in Michigan.

I loved your floral post today, Susan...so many memories.
