Freezing Temperatures and Dreaming of Spring!

I don't know what the weather is like in your part of the country or world, but here in the Midwest United States, I woke up to -14 degrees Fahrenheit (-25.6 Celsius) this morning! Being more than a little tired of the snow, cold and the monochromatic gray world outside my window, I started dreaming of spring and the beautiful color that March and April will bring. Enjoy my day dreams!

  1. how gorgeous is all of this! i bet you are anxious too~ the magnolia is my fav, first to bloom here, should be open by the end of the month. all beautiful susan!

  2. Fabulous post, Susan ...wonderful photos. ... beautiful variety of colors...

And thank you for brightening up my day.

Is the second photo a Dutch iris? Such a gorgeous color, whatever it is.

  3. Susan - you made me feel so much better!! The thought of a warm day, with all the colors popping out..even the weeding, deadheading I would welcome with open arms about now!

    Beautiful photos...

  4. Oy.. I said to J.. as we shopped today and I saw fresh mini irises in bouquets..Isn't Spring wonderful?
He said..You ahve a long time to wait:(

Oy even colder here dear Susan..
Let that be a comfort to you..

  5. Thank you from the frozen tundra!

Cynthia, that one is iris x histroides 'Katharine Hodgkin'. Those and the iris reticulata are some of the first flowers to bloom in my garden in early spring.

  6. Ahhhh, Susan... that was heaven. Spring is my very favorite season! Thank you for the tease.

  7. I love the blues! And I did the same thing today, looked back in my files at flowers!
I guess we are all dreaming!
But it is supposed to get above freezing here this weekend..woohoo!

    Thanks for the beautiful post!

  8. We aren't nearly as cold but foggy foggy foggy here. This post surely makes me crave spring! I can feel the spring sunshine in the first one. Love the iris too. I NEED that one but can never seem to find it locally. Gotta order it I guess.

I bought a bouquet of tulips tonight when I stopped at the grocery store. I saw them and just couldn't resist. Very pink and very cheery!

  9. Susan, thank you for the information on "Katherine Hodgkin" ... such a pretty flower.

  10. Susan, I sure enjoyed your daydreams of spring! All of the blossoms are just so pretty and have me dreaming of spring as well? I could stare at these all day...I see it is snowing a little yet so it must be early spring daydreaming time ;-)

  11. Susan, I was ready for Spring last fall.
Our temps. have remained in the single digits for some time, and it's turning me into a grouchy-pants. So, I'll daydream, right along with you, if you don't mind.

  12. Oh my, what wonderful photos and reminders that spring will arrive, not soon, but it's coming.

Your blog is so beautiful, Susan.
